The Yorkton Arts Council was proud to be part of this national celebration of arts and culture each fall!

As part of Culture Days 2026, many joined us for Woven Stories: Fabrics of Our Community, an exhibition as well as a dedicated time of storytelling where people gathered and share the importance of fabrics in their cultures. It was a time of inspiration, education and celebrating cultural heritage.

This exhibition and time of sharing occurred in the Community pArtners Gallery at the Yorkton Public Library. This event brought together a curated collection of culturally significant fabrics contributed by members of the Yorkton community. Each piece carried with it a story—of heritage, migration, tradition, celebration, and identity.

From intricate patterns to vibrant colors and time-honoured textiles, the exhibition invited visitors to explore how fabric serves not only as material, but as memory. Through these woven expressions, the gallery becomes a space of connection—where diverse cultures are honoured, stories are shared, and a collective identity begins to take shape.
